Teaching Philosophy and Methodology

From my own experience learning French, I've found that successful foreign language learning is at least 50% about comfort and confidence. Therefore, my first priority as a teacher is creating an environment where students feel at ease expressing themselves, whatever their current level of fluency. I also strive to engage my students by building activities and discussion topics around their own individual interests.

I also consider it highly important that students understand the grammatical building blocks of the English language. I pride myself on making grammar engaging and fun, constructing an individualized grammar program that will help each student speak correctly and confidently. I combine this with various reading and listening activities that expose students to English in action. All in all, I propose courses that blend grammar, reading and listening, and interactive conversational activities, to be balanced in consultation with the student.
